BUCHAREST, 22October 2026 – Europeum-EDIC, the European Digital Infrastructure Consortiumestablished by Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal,Romania, Slovenia and Spain to operate the European Blockchain ServicesInfrastructure (EBSI), announces EBSI’s official launch at the first EBSIEcosystem Roadshow: Romania Edition.

Initiated in April 2026, EBSI’sproduction network, with 20 validator nodes across 10 countries, provides ashared European infrastructure for trusted digital interactions at national andcross-border levels. Governed by its participating Member States, Europeum-EDICprovides a common framework for the operation and development of EBSI, allowingpublic and private organisations across Europe to build on sharedinfrastructure.

The official launch marks the nextphase: onboarding real-world projects for production use.

EBSI provides shared Europeantrust infrastructure that public administrations, businesses and organisationsacross the digital trust ecosystem can build on to deliver trusted digitalservices. The EBSI catalogue of services will make it easier for walletproviders and other Application Service Providers to integrate EBSI servicesinto their own products, enabling them to verify digital credentials, establishtrust in digital records and support product traceability. These servicessupport interoperable solutions across sectors, in line with relevant Europeanregulations and standards.

Three core services form EBSI’sinitial catalogue of services:

·    Verifiable Records & Proofs: createstamper-proof evidence that a document or piece of data is authentic andunchanged since it was recorded on EBSI.

·    Trust Chains & Ecosystem of TrustedIssuers: enables organisations to build chains of trust in which accreditedissuers provide digital credentials that relying parties can verify withoutcontacting the issuer.

·    Origin & Traceability: records aproduct’s origin and the events in its journey between organisations, creatinga verifiable trail across supply chains.

Organisationscan test Verifiable Records & Proofs in the EBSI Client Portal sandbox, access the catalogue through a single API and begin the onboarding process withEuropeum-EDIC to move towards production. Additional services will follow.

Europeum-EDICis delivering a scalable infrastructure that can support organisations of allsizes in moving use cases towards production. This opens new opportunitiesacross Europe to develop and deploy digital trust solutions for both nationaland cross-border needs.

Someof the first use cases expected to go live on EBSI include digital productpassports to verify product origin and integrity across supply chains, anddocument anchoring solutions migrating from private blockchains to EBSI.

EuropeanCommission services are carrying out technology testing and pilots that assessblockchain technology, for instance, for ensuring data integrity whenpublishing statistical data and for potential future applications in carbonmarkets. This demonstrates the growing traction for a trusted decentralisedmodel in publicly governed European digital infrastructure.
