The project

Each year, hundreds-of-thousands of European citizens go abroad to another European country to continue their studies. In order to simplify the process behind issuing and verifying the credibility of all these Bachelor, Master and PhD verifiable credentials, national projects from these three countries came together.

These projects are:

• The EBSI4RO Connecting Romania through Blockchain project from Romania in which the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) is working with the Politehnica University of Timisoara;
• The ELEDGER Hellenic Distributed Ledger Technology Infrastructure project from Greece with the GRNET under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance as one of the partners who collaborated together with the University of Athens as the issuer of education credentials.
• The fr.EBSI Ready-to-use Academic Credentials on EBSI project from France in which the University of Lille has the project lead and that has the Ministry of Education of France as their Trusted Accreditation Organisation.

This simplification will be achieved by applying the EBSI Use Cases, a self-sovereign identity and diploma management in a cross-border scenario.

As a consequence, the administrative processes will be simplified, trust will be enhanced and efficiency will be increased.
